Yellow Pages

Who needs the yellow pages when you have the internet, I smuggly thought as I threw away every phone book in the house a while back. You know who needs one - the person who's dryer stops working  with two loads of wet laundry and is in deseparate need of a laundry mat. Because laudry mats aren't big on the internet or I am in big trouble...

It Was Nice While It Lasted

Friday night and all 24 glorious hours of Saturday I had the house all to myself. If I thought it couldn't get better, it rained on and off all day. Great cleaning and get organized weather. The day seemed to last forever. Bliss. Everything was in it's place and a sense of peace settled over the house. Then Mister rolled home from the beach today and it's all a faint memory...

Clutter

"A lot of clutter is a lack of acceptance that a moment has passed"
~ Peter Walsh

That quote, which I think I read in O magazine, sent me searching for more from Peter Walsh. He has several books. I've started with this one because it was available at the library. Always my first stop when looking for a book, because I am cheap like that.

I've been on a simplifying mission for the last couple of years and really thought it was about the "stuff". I am learning it has absolutely nothing to do with the "stuff" at all.

While reading yesterday it dawned on me that I might could actually have a life that I can come home from work and not have any "house" stuff hanging over my head. You know the kitchen always needs to be cleaned, the piles on the desk and counters need to go away, laundry needs to be up. I love to do laundry, it gives me such a feeling of accomplishment. Mister even teases me about it. But I HATE putting the laundry up. I realized yesterday it's because we have way more clothing than 3 people need. Who wants to spend their time stuffing clean clothes into dressers and closets? Hello, light bulb moment!

Lolly and Mister need to watch out, I am about to go on my own clean sweep and if it's not functional or I don't love it, it's gone because this is one girl who's holding onto a whole lot of moments that have passed!

Tonights Project

Lolly is out of town this week so that can only mean one thing ~ time to clean her room. If you can ever really consider it clean due to all the clutter. I always think it holds such cute potential if there wasn't so much non coordinating stuff in there. But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. When I was growing up my walls were so covered with stuff you couldn't even see what color they were and I thought it was great. So I continue to try to keep quite and let her enjoy her space as she sees fit, with a pick up and modification every now and then that is...I know it doesn't look it but you have to trust me, this is the clean version
