Trick or Treat?

I saw these scarrots at my local Kroger. I seriously thought of buying them to ensure we were crossed off of the list of houses to come back to next year. I may have mentioned last year that handing out candy to kids in costumes kind of creeps me out.

While I think scarrots is a clever marketing idea, I'd be super pissed as a kid to open up my trick or treat bag and find carrots. Well maybe not super pissed but you know what I mean. To the person handing them out, that's like throwing away money. I would however buy them to stick on Lolly's lunch. Now that's a super cute idea.

It's Halloween! I say let them eat candy and lots of it!!

Blogging at Work

As is evident from my lack of posting the last couple of weeks, if I don't blog from work it isn't going to get written.

Quick update:

• I am doing the work of two people. While I was completely bored at the beginning of the year with not enough to do, I now have more than enough to do. Hence no blogging time.
• The skirt of suit I am wearing today is noticeably tighter than the last time I wore it. Perhaps I should start skipping lunch and spend that time blogging.
• Everyday at work I am given a front row seat to view crazy. Crazy on the outside, not inside. Most of the people I work with and/or support are normal. But those on the outside trying to get in must think I was born yesterday.
• I fear I am failing at feigning interest in adolescent girl stuff. It's only started and I am bored with boys and who likes who. And God help me if I have to watch one more inane thing on Youtube that she's sure I am going to find funny. It never is. And no matter how many times she plays Teach Me How to Dougie I am never going to think its a good song.

Alright back to work.

Yellow Pages

Who needs the yellow pages when you have the internet, I smuggly thought as I threw away every phone book in the house a while back. You know who needs one - the person who's dryer stops working  with two loads of wet laundry and is in deseparate need of a laundry mat. Because laudry mats aren't big on the internet or I am in big trouble...

TV Viewing

Were you busy watching all the season premieres and checking out new series this past week? I  had big plans. But you know what I was doing by 9:15 each evening? Sleeping. That's right sleeping. No matter how much I wanted to see something I was out cold. Man I feel old.

What'd I miss? Anything good? Should I be spending time on hulu?

The Wonderful World of Lolly

I sent Lolly off to Disney World this morning with a group from church. She knew no one on the trip ahead of time except the youth leader. I love her sense of adventure. While I have that sense of adventure now, I certainly didn't have it at her age.

6 vans total. I am sure Matt, the driver, appreciates the Disney Princesses title across his van filled with 5 girls.

I've received two text since this morning. Both starting out with " I am having so much fun..." So I guess alls well at their end. I however after 14 years I still get that "First Day of Daycare Panic" feeling whenever I send her off to somewhere I am not familiar with...To cope I am having a beer or two this evening and staying away from watching the  ID: Investigation Discovery channel this weekend.

Friday Night Lights

That's Mister last Friday at the high school football game. He waits all year long for football season. Before the season starts, if he's not home when I get home from work, I know there's a 95% chance he's watching practice up at the school. I swear he'd be on the side lines if they let him. Only thing is we don't have anyone on the team, we don't even know anyone on the team.

Dragon Con

Dragon Con has hit Atlanta, meaning there's lot of interesting sights to see downtown. At work, I sit on the side of the building that overlooks many of the hotels. My aisle was a popular place today as you could see the line of convention goers that measured many city blocks. The men on the floor couldn't get enough of it. They were looking for binoculars...

I am not sure if Ishould be distrubed or impressed that Hello Kitty is everywhere.

It's For A Good Cause

How hard could it be? I volunteered to be the HR Team Captain for my company. My task - recruit 15 walkers (out of a large HR organization) and raise a total of $3,000.

I completely underestimated my co-workers and fellow HR colleagues ability to ignore me.

Things That Make Me Happy

A clean house. Saturday is my cleaning day. By Sunday you wouldn't know it. But this past Saturday, I cleaned everything. I mean a "on your knees scrub the floors clean" clean. It was especially gratifying because Mister worked all day Saturday. I wan't cleaning around him, it was a full on clean.

The happy part is that we've managed to keep it clean ALL week long. And by clean I mean everything in it's place. Nothing laying around. Bliss.

I am not sure everyone was on board at first or realized the happiness it was bringing me until I got up out of bed on Sunday night to clean up the kitchen, which is usually left a mess, when Mister came to bed. I think the clanking of dishes said all there was to say and it's been clean sailing since...

It's the Little Things

Blogger access from work! Hap, hap, happy! But nothing to say. Gotta take the good with bad.

Focus on Happy

Do you ever feel that way? Like they just don't get it. I do quite a bit at work when we're talking about recruiting (that's what I do)

But I feel it even more when I think about how I structure my days, my weeks, my months. Like I don't get it.

I feel like I spend the majority of my life hurrying from one thing to the next; on the way to the end of the day, the end of the week, the next year, something different, the next stage of life...I have a great life and I am hurrying through it without evening noticing what makes it good.

If I look back on my week, it looks like this - work, traffic, work, traffic, work, traffic,work, traffic, work, traffic. It goes without saying traffic sucks. Work, is work. It keeps me busy, pays the bills. I work for a great company but at the end of my life I am not wanting to remember traffic and life in a cube.(cubes also suck). It's time to add a whole lot of happy into my days, weeks, months. Man, it's easy to get lost in the rat race. Do you have any secrets to finding balance? to not living on autopilot? to getting the most out of life?

Lolly starts high school today. Fingers crossed it's a drama free4 years. Who am I kidding, I'll be happy with an easy transitition for Freshman year.

Conversation Hangover

Yesterday started bad and ended worst with me raising my voice to my boss. Not my finest moment. Today I have that yuck feeling. The did I really do that feeling. I can't wait for it to pass.

Thank goodness I am heading out of town next Thursday for my reunion. Obviously a break is needed. Even better Lolly returns home today after spending the summer with her dad. Soon work will seem less important and my perspective will be better centered. If I could only shake this yuck feeling.

Some Days

It's just one of those "I want to punch somebody in the face days". You know those days when you feel like if just one more thing irritates you, you are going to go all Michael Douglas in Falling Down . I am having one of those days.
